Mobile Broadband Developer Stoke Names Communications Industry Pioneer Charles Corbalis as Vice President of Engineering

)–Mobile Broadband innovator Stoke, Inc. has named Charles Corbalis as Vice President of Engineering. Corbalis joins from RGB Networks where he was Vice President of Engineering. He was previously co-founder of optical switch company Calient Networks and StrataCom, Inc, where he led the development of breakthrough communications industry technologies."I am very pleased to welcome him to our senior team."

In his new role, Corbalis will lead engineering operations and rollout of products including the Stoke Security eXchange, Wi-Fi eXchange and Service eXchange platforms. His appointment further expands Stoke's line-up of industry-renowned executives combining an extensive set of expertise in the global mobile broadband and telecommunications industry.

At RGB Networks Corbalis transformed the company's engineering organization, heading up all aspects of product development and helping their transition from legacy to IP video. Before RGB, he was co-founder of optical switch network company Calient Networks. He was co-founder of StrataCom, Inc., developing the Frame Relay interface that propelled the company to IPO in 1992. StrataCom was later acquired by Cisco, where Charles subsequently served as VP and General Manager of the Wide Area Network business unit until 1999, working with international service providers such as AT&T, WorldCom, NTT and Telecom Italia. Charles holds a BSEE/CS degree from the University of California, Berkeley and a MSEE from Stanford University. In 1996 he was named winner of the Dvorak Award for Frame Relay and FastPacket Technologies. He is holder of 16 patents.
